Mickey Started playing darts at the age of 12 and won his first tournament at 13. He Played Gaelic football and combined football and playing darts, then retired from football at 33 and concentrated solely on darts.
He set goals for himself, first one to be the best in Tyrone which he has done and is currently still number one. His next goal was to win bigger tournaments in Ireland and while doing that he played county darts for Southderry to get on to the Northern Ireland NIDO darts team. He went on to win the Ireland's Open Darts Classic in 2009 which gave him great confidence to go on and win the Irish Open and Ireland's first premier league in 2010, his county darts were going well and he was ranked number two in Northern Ireland which qualified him for the Northern Ireland team to play in the European cup in Turkey and the Celtic cup in 2010, his attention then moved to the PDC where the opportunities and rewards are far more substantial. |
