Environmental Policy
It is intended that all installation work by Rain, Wind and Sun will be carbon neutral and we are working hard towards that aim. We have a research team dedicated to identifying alternative materials and products from ethical, environmentally friendlier and low carbon sources. We are also looking at our working methods and at the waste streams that we produce so that we can identify reduce, re-use and recycling possibilities.

Waste Management Policy
As with all businesses Rain Wind Sun generates waste and has to store, handle and recover or dispose of it on an ongoing basis. Because of this Rain Wind Sun is actively working towards a zero waste policy in all our areas of operation.
To achieve this we will:
Identify our main waste areas – office and work sites. |
Identify the main waste streams in these areas. |
Office - Paper, cardboard, plastic packaging, ink cartridges, and food waste. |
Work Sites – Plastic, metal, copper, hardcore, packaging-plastic/cardboard, chemical/hazardous and food waste. |
Conduct extensive research into ways of reducing, re-using and recycling all of our waste ourselves, and with local authorised contractors. |
Designate a waste stream area with suitable storage facilities that are fully labelled and secure. |
Provide composting and recycling facilities at our office. |
Provide effective communication with staff on waste management. |
Plan work as efficiently as possible, thus reducing waste. |
Provide ongoing training on waste management for staff. |
Continually research better methods of reducing, reusing and recycling. |
Continually monitor our products and suppliers to ensure they use the least amount of packaging. |
To ensure that waste management is performed in accordance with all waste legislative requirements, including the duty of care, and to plan for future legislative changes and to mitigate their effects. |
To provide clearly defined roles and responsibilities to identify and co-ordinate each activity within the waste management chain. |
To appoint competent person(s) to provide waste management advice. |
There is a legal requirement for all who produce, keep or dispose of waste of any type to comply with the various regulations and the Duty of Care under Environmental Protection legislation.
Rain Wind Sun will apply a ‘waste hierarchical approach’, to reduce, reuse, recycle and recover waste products in preference to the disposal of waste to landfill and we recognise the importance of meeting these legal requirements and to manage waste responsibly, reduce the volume of waste sent to landfill and to maximise reuse and recycling where possible.
This policy applies to all activities undertaken by (or on behalf of) Rain Wind Sun and including its staff, contractors
and suppliers. |
